The Lady Runners captured the Golden Valley Conference Title in 2011, the second title in the four seasons since Brown took over the program in 2007. In four seasons under Coach Brown’s direction his teams have won two conference titles, while making four consecutive State Tournament appearances. In addition to the conference titles, and four consecutive play-offs appearances, Brown has coached eleven all GVC players, two all state players and a conference MVP. When speaking to Brown about the various honors, he seemed most proud of the Commission on Athletics, Scholar team of the year for 2007 & 2008.
Last season Brown produced the conference MVP in Miesha Kimble, as well as three all conference players in Barrett, Cahee and Davidson-Mays. Kimble and Davidson -Mays were honored as all state players, being voted to the second & third team respectfully. In May, Kimble added to her honors when she received Female Athlete of the Year for 2011 at Butte College. According to Coach Brown “As a whole, last year’s team was pretty impressive and will be very difficult to replace”.

Brown felt it was very early in the recruiting game, but liked how the initial pieces have come together. When we spoke Brown didn’t mention any names, but was excited about a point guard from Las Vegas. On the local scene, he felt a couple players from the area would make an immediate presence on the court. Brown further stated “trying to build a team is just a small step in trying to build a program. Building a program is my duty to the college and community”.
