Welcome to Butte College, the city of Chico (where most of our international students live and play) and Northern California (where Chico is located)! Chico is surrounded by fertile agricultural fields and orchards and rests up against the Sierra Nevada and Cascade mountain ranges. Because of Chico’s relatively small size (only 100,000 people), you will find the community to be extremely friendly and helpful. Chico is also unique in that two colleges (Butte College and California State University, Chico) are located nearby with a combined enrollment of nearly 30,000 students which means there are a lot of activities, restaurants, stores and services designed with students in mind. This unique blend of intellectual life, small town charm and beautiful natural surroundings make Chico one of the most coveted towns in California and even the nation. Chico has been chosen one of the best cities in United States to live by Money and Forbes magazines as well as the Men’s Journal!
