Michael heads the Interlibrary Loan and Periodicals departments. He also spends time at the reference desk, updates the library website and is responsible for collection development in auxiliary history, transportation, communications, agriculture, military, naval science, bibliography and library science.
After ending a career in television and radio, Michael has worked in public and academic libraries since 2003 and earned a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University in May 2009. He is particularly interested in information literacy and access, technology trends within the library, and promoting library use among students and the public.
Outside his professional library life Michael is an avid cyclist and runner and participates in races all over Northern California as a member of the Chico Corsa Cycling team. He also enjoys reading fiction (noir, detective, and recent award winners), non-fiction (biography, history, and current events), watching challenging films, and listening to music from his collection of more than 5,000 vinyl records and cds.
