Are you returning to Butte after a leave or did you attend another college since attending Butte? You should update your address, email and phone number but you don't have to fill out another application. You can do this online using WebAdvisor.
If you attended another college then have your official transcript sent to Butte College as soon as possible. Allow 1-2 weeks for arrival. If you are taking a Math, English or Reading class you may want to have your transcipt evaluated for placement. Otherwise you will need to take our placement test if you did not complete it when you attended in the past. Call the Assessment Office @ 895-2350 to request an evaluation or to schedule a test if you are not yet cleared from Assessment.
If you are not planning on earning a degree and are taking 6 units or less that are not Math, Reading or English you are not required to have placement on file.
Follow the Enrollment Process guidelines to make sure you are ready to Register.
Apply online. If you need an application sent to you, call (530) 895-2511.
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.gov, using the Butte College Federal School Code - 006972. Completing a FAFSA before you enroll may exempt you from the requirement to pay fees within 7 days. See Financial Aid for additional information. Also see Step 6 below.
Send your official transcripts from all previously attended colleges to Butte College Admissions and Records: 3536 Butte Campus Drive, Oroville, CA 95965. Allow 4-6 weeks for delivery and processing.
All new students are required to complete Assessment prior to attending Orientation. Go to Assessment or call (530) 895-2511 for test scheduling and preparation information. Once you have contacted Assessment, visit Orientation to schedule your Orientation session. New Student Orientation will consist of a campus tour, meeting with a counselor, setting up your MyBC account, and registering for courses.
New students will register during their Orientation. If you are not required to attend orientation then see the class schedule, MyBC or Admissions for "Times to Register."
Students have 7 days from the time of registration to pay fees or they will be dropped from one or more classes. See Paying Your Fees in the schedule or 7days for details.
